Kangiqsujuaq 2012

This was our third time to this community and we facilitated our leadership program with the youth. We had youth from the secondary 6 residence and even a few from Kangirsuk. Lots of different activities, but a highlight is when the young leaders are asked to teach and manage a gym full of young hyper kids between the ages of 5 and 8. They really need to put their leadership skills into practice as they teach them some dance routines and then run a competition, as Blueprint only observes and makes notes for the debriefing at the end of the day. Its always fun, but often we hear comments that it was much harder than they thought. Thank you Bernie Adams for letting us use the community recreation center and supporting us all week. Even the local social worker and public health nurse participated throughout the week. Thank you Pasha for your help when we used Inuit legends for the brainstorming activity. Young people grow into leaders with practice over the years, but the self confidence they gained this week was a good start. We are very proud of the youth from this community.
