Buddha recently presented at a conference called “Remixing the Art of Social Change” in Washington DC. This was an international conference on outreach through Hiphop.
Buddha and Frost will be keynote speakers at the 2009 Global youth assembly in Edmonton. This conference is sponsored by the United Nations and will have over 1500 delegates from around the world.
Buddha was recently asked by the Governor General of Canada to moderate her Urban Arts Youth Forum in Ottawa - along with Oni the Haitian Sensation.
- BluePrint For Life and its work in Canada’s Arctic was featured in the Oct 2008 issue of Readers Digest - see photos at www.rd.ca/dance
- Global TV (One of Canada’s National Broadcasters) worked with Randy Kelly from Tungston productions to produce a one-hour documentary on what we are doing. The Cambridge Bay project will be featured on National TV.
- Crazy Smooth and Buddha have been training the workshop leaders for Cirque Du Soleil’s Social Outreach program. (Cirque du Monde)
- Our BluePrint Team continues to expand now using some of Canada’s Top Bboys and Bgirls from across Canada
- BluePrint for Life has been chosen by Hiphop clothing company SCIFEN for sponsorship. This will also mean great hiphop gifts for youth on our projects. Thanks Ewok and Barmak and Jordan from Under Pressure.!!
- A number of projects are scheduled for 2008 with some Cree and Dene communities along with Arctic Bay, Pond Inlet and Resolute for the Fall
- BluePrint For Life delivered 2 more projects through the Kativik school board in Northern Quebec in the fall of 2007. We will become the school curriculum during a third project on the Ungava coast in 2008.
- Numerous Bboy companies in North America continue to support our efforts with Dance DVD’s for the youth, Thanks to Mex of “Evolution” and Paulski from “Out for Fame”
- The Canadian Floor Masters and Funk Thieves have collaborated to produce a stage show on the History of Hiphop called “Back in Da Day”. This premiered to sold out audiences in Guelph Ontario at the River Run center and was featured at the Canada Dance Festival at Canada’s National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Many of the cast members are also BluePrint Staff. - - Buddha and the work the BluePrint Team are doing was recently highlighted in a new international film on bboying (Breakdancing) around the world. Planet Bboy premiered at Robert De Niro Tribeca Film festival and Buddha and Ben Jammin were invited as special guest. Look for this film to be shown worldwide. ! Buddha and Crazy Smooth were keynote speakers at a UN sponsored youth conference in Edmonton Alberta. “Ignite Change Now - Global Youth Assembly 2007”. Other guest speakers included Sol Guy and Hurricane Carter
BluePrintForLife will deliver an inner city program to the City of Calgary for May of 2008 welcoming 4 new staff members from Edmonton’s RedPower Squad and Freshly Squeezed.
Blueprint for Life were keynote speakers and panelist at the Canada Dance Festival in 2007 in Ottawa. Highlighting the possibilities of community development through dance.
Buddha and BluePrintForLife were asked to be the keynote speakers at a conference at Ottawa University on Racism and Stereotypes and are guest speaking at school and universities throughout Buddha and BluePrint team members, FrostFlow and Handlez were guest speakers at the community of Jane and Finch in Toronto. Sharing ideas as to how their program could be adapted to help address some of this communities concerns.
